I'm fairly certain that...
-Every American actually trying to win their event in Torino is a total hardass.
-90% of the American athletes that are getting any scrap of coverage from the Olympics are re-enforcing every possible negative American stereotype and continually embarrass the Stars and Stripes with ass clown, half ass, me first, shit head performances.
-The NBA All Star weekend let me down horribly. I've created a reasonable list of changes:
1- Get rid of the team ball and the skills competition. Replace them with a half court shooting contest and mic up every player, giving equal points for made shots and quality hating/insults. Allow Charlie Murphy, Charles Barkley and Larry Bird to judge. Larry must grow back the mustache, Charles must be allowed to curse and Charlie must be dressed in his Buc Nasty outfit.
2- Add a minimum of two more contestants to the dunk contest and jack the prize money up. While I'm sure that the A list stars (Kobe, LBJ, Vinsanity) would still pull out, I'm willing to bet Desmond Mason, Jason Richardson and one or two other veterans would get out there for a 6-figure prize.
3- Allow every dunker 3 attempts in the first round over 2, and let them keep the composite score of the best two. Instead of letting people dunk until they make, allow 3 chances per dunk. Also, inform the judges to take it easy on the 10s, so nearly every competitor won't have a score of 97 or above.
4- Actually invite the leagues best 3-point shooters to the 3-point contest. While people aren't rushing to their TV's to watch Kyle Korver, Mike Miller and Voshon Leonard, people also aren't rushing to watch guys on the All Star team shoot 12's and 13's. Having people actually make shots would be a breath of fresh air in this shooting contest.
5- As far as the game goes, it is real tough to actually make a good one. I'm sure more prize money would help, but there isn't much to realistically be done.
-Driving in Chapel Hill makes no sense. I can walk to class in 15 minutes, but it takes 12 to drive. The fuck is that?
-Tonight, 106.1 played 4 straight Journey songs, three of which were live versions. Kudos to my new favorite station.
-People with 500 facebook friends had to ask at least 400 of them, making them friends by a very loose term. I don't have near that many facebook friends, nor do I have that many real life friends.
-This weekend, I saw somebody drink a Busch Light can brought from outside on the patio of Top O. Shady, shady, shady.
-If the American team in the World Baseball classic mails in it like the Olympians, I might just kill somebody.
